IPL 2021 Dubai International Cricket Stadium Match Sees Limited Fans

The 2021 Indian Premier League is set to welcome back fans in the stands on Sunday, but at a different venue. UAE will play host following a four-month hiatus. The 12BET covered league put a halt to the season previously because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Tournament was suspended on May 4 following a rise of COVID-19 cases in India. Upon resumption, the 31 matches will be played across different stadiums in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. It will also be held starting September 19 up until October 15.

The competition will kick off with the defending champions Mumbai Indians facing off against the former champions Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, followed by another a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders. These games will take place at 6PM in UAE.

Fans Coming Back to the Stands

The tournament had been planned in the form of a bubble, but news came out that fans will also be allowed back into the stadiums. They will be permitted to buy tickets for the competition’s resumption in Dubai on Sunday.

This, however, comes with a condition—fans of the 12BET listed even will be able to watch in limited numbers under the organizer’s “limited seating” rule. The numbers that will be allowed into the stadiums, as well as how much of the stadium will be opened to fans, isn’t clear at the moment.

Fans that don’t get tickets will be able to watch the tournament on television instead. BeIN Sports gained the rights for the live coverage of the IPL 2021 in North Africa (Mena) and the Middle East.

A Special Match Between MI and CSK

The IPL believes that the match between the Indians and the Kings will be a spectacle to behold. According to the match organizers, the five-time champions and current holders taking on the three-time former IPL champions is a “momentous occasion” and is the match to definitely welcome the fans back to the stands.

Behind Closed Doors

The UAE leg of the IPL 2021 will mark a return to some semblance of normalcy for the embattled league. The popular T20 tournament has been forced to hold competitions behind closed doors, or inside a bubble, since 2019. In 2020, the IPL has been held behind closed doors in the UAE and, before the current status quo, fans were also not allowed inside stadiums during the first leg of this year’s IPL 2021.
